Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864–1901) was a remarkable French painter and lithographer who, after breaking both legs as a child, focused on drawing and painting. He studied art in Paris in 1882 and met influential artists. By 1889, he exhibited his work at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris and Brussels. He skillfully captured the vibrant nightlife of Montmartre, using thin oil paint on cardboard.
