Alexandre Garbell (1903-1970) a french painter was born in Riga, Latvia. He started painting at the age of 13. He studied art in Moscow and than in 1923 he moved to Paris where he trained at the Académie Ranson with Roger Bissière. His art evolved towards abstraction, it retained that special luminosity that reflected his sensual involvement in the pleasures of color & light.
